You know the one bad thing about a friendship? Well, I do now. The answer is: You never know how long it's gonna last. I was outside this past Saturday and was preparing water balloons when a friend that I haven't seen in three years scares the shit out of me by dumping the bucket of ice cold water I had been using to keep my drinks cold on me. I jumped up and was seriously about to nail him with the giant water ballon in my hand. (We were using party balloons. Those things get HUGE!!) We began talking and talking and ended up talking for about an hour and a half when I mentioned that I still couldn't believe that he was in my neighborhood when he sighed. He looked at me and said that we couldn't be friends anymore because he was moving out of the state and wanted a fresh start. I almost punched him in the gut, but I just looked at him and said,"A fresh start? You've got so many good memories. Why forget them?" He just shook his head and said that he doesn't want to be brought back to the past. Only the present and the future.
Afterwords, I walked inside and flopped down on my bed and began to throw my baseball against the wall. My dad asked me what happened and I told him. He said to me that life is like that and that you never know what's going to happen. He said that any friend who acts like that is fake. Then he went back to his little thing about my friends online. He said I don't really know them so I can't really call them my friends. I just shook my head, told him he was wrong and went back outside for the water balloon fight. The rest of the day wasn't much better.
I just really hate how people can act like your friend and then just tell you that you can't be friends anymore.
